Hay Bales
Acrylic on canvas

I had seen the rolls of hay the day before while travelling to work. It was early and the shadows were long. I hoped to catch them the next day in early morning light, and struck out at 6:00 a.m. for the fields.

I found a place to paint behind a fence, and had to look over and around the posts. The hay bales were also too wide apart to make the scene. By using a little artistic license, and focusing on a foreground bale, I was able to capture the morning minus the long shadows I originally intended.
